The Major scale is the foundation and ruler of western music! (It is a whole lot more than just a fun little song from "The Sound of Music"!) Ever since my first day of teaching, I have harped on the importance of this scale, in learning at least three fingerings, in really hearing the sound, and in knowing how chords are built from it. (More on that in other lessons) It really is incredible, every guitarist should know this forward and backward!
